September 12, 2025 – Aliso Viejo, CA — The Capistrano Valley Cougars continued their strong start to the season Friday night, knocking off the Aliso Niguel Wolverines 35-14 in a non-league matchup.

Capistrano Valley’s offense was firing on all cylinders, led by running back Za’Dyn Hall, who powered his way to 106 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Quarterback Talon Spencer added balance through the air, throwing for 103 yards and three touchdowns, while wide receiver Colin Hooper was a key factor with two scores of his own.

The Wolverines, fresh off a dominant 52-13 victory over Chino the week before, struggled to find consistency against a disciplined Cougar defense. Aliso Niguel’s defeat marked their eighth straight loss to Capistrano Valley, a streak the Wolverines will hope to end in future meetings.
With the victory, Capistrano Valley improves to 3-1 on the season and will return home next Friday, September 19, to take on Foothill (Santa Ana, CA). The Knights enter the contest at 1-3 after falling to Troy, 49-21, and have surrendered nearly 29 points per game — a potential opportunity for the Cougars’ explosive offense to shine.

Aliso Niguel, now 2-1, will look to rebound in front of its home fans on September 19 when they host Pacifica (Garden Grove, CA). The Mariners come in at 2-2 following a tough 21-17 loss to Marina (Huntington Beach, CA).
Both squads still have plenty of football left to play, but for now, Capistrano Valley walks away with bragging rights in South Orange County after another convincing win over their local rival.
