Newport Beach, Calif. – In a matchup between two of Orange County’s top programs, the Corona del Mar Sea Kings delivered a commanding 33-10 victory over the San Juan Hills Stallions on Friday night. Senior quarterback Brady Annett was nearly flawless, completing 18 of 22 passes for 274 yards and four touchdowns to lead CdM to a statement win on the road.
The tone was set early when San Juan Hills fumbled deep in its own territory on its opening drive. Corona del Mar quickly capitalized as Annett found JJ Haley for a 32-yard touchdown strike just minutes into the game. After Joseph DiBella’s extra point, the Sea Kings led 7-0 and never looked back.

San Juan Hills’ struggles continued into the second quarter, where turnovers again proved costly. CdM’s Will Chavez and Cash Pearsall each picked off passes to stymie Stallion drives, and both turnovers led to points. Annett connected with Garrett James for a 13-yard score midway through the second, then DiBella added a 29-yard field goal to make it 17-0.
The Stallions managed to get on the board late in the half with a 38-yard field goal by Kyle Donahue, trimming the deficit to 17-3 at halftime.
Corona del Mar came out of the locker room firing once more. Early in the third quarter, Annett hit Dorsett Stecker on a 19-yard touchdown pass to extend the lead to 24-3. Minutes later, CdM’s defense forced a safety to push the advantage to 26-3. Annett capped off his brilliant night with his fourth touchdown pass — another strike to James from 19 yards out — giving the Sea Kings a commanding 33-3 cushion in the fourth quarter.
San Juan Hills finally found the end zone late in the game when Timmy Herr punched in a rushing touchdown from short range, but the comeback bid was far too late.

CdM’s offensive balance and efficiency were key. The Sea Kings racked up 347 total yards, with Annett’s precision complemented by steady rushing from Chase Kuchera, who added 47 yards on the ground. Haley led all receivers with 110 yards and a touchdown, while James (84 yards, 2 TDs) and Stecker (81 yards, 1 TD) each made big plays throughout the night.
For San Juan Hills, Herr led the offense with 57 rushing yards and the team’s lone touchdown, while quarterback Timmy Herr also threw for 95 yards. Ryan Matheson was a bright spot in the passing game, hauling in five catches for 45 yards.
Defensively, the Stallions were paced by Jonah Sanchez, Jacob Mullen, and Tyler Adams, who each recorded nine total tackles, but CdM’s passing attack proved too much to contain.
With the win, Corona del Mar improves its record and continues to build momentum heading into league play, while San Juan Hills looks to regroup after a tough night against one of the area’s most disciplined teams.
