August 21, 2025 – Orange, CA — The Huntington Beach Oilers kicked off their 2025 season in impressive fashion Thursday night, defeating the Orange Panthers 35-18 on the road in a non-league contest.
The Oilers wasted little time setting the tone, striking twice in the first quarter to take a 14-0 lead. Orange responded late in the opening frame with a touchdown of their own but failed to convert on the two-point attempt, leaving the score at 14-6 heading into the second quarter. Both defenses held firm before halftime, keeping the score unchanged.

After the break, Huntington Beach’s offense found its rhythm. The Oilers extended their lead with a third-quarter touchdown pass and a short rushing score by #32 Nathan Villanueva, building a commanding 28-6 advantage heading into the final period.
Orange showed resilience in the fourth quarter, cutting into the deficit with a touchdown to make it 28-12. But the Oilers answered immediately, as quarterback play and big-time receiving from #4 Troy Foster pushed the lead to 35-12. A late Orange rushing touchdown narrowed the gap, but the game was already out of reach.
Huntington Beach improves to 1-0 and will look to build on their momentum when they face Trabuco Hills (Mission Viejo, CA) in their next non-league matchup. The Mustangs enter fresh after a bye week.
Orange falls to 0-1 but showed flashes of offensive potential that they’ll aim to carry into their upcoming schedule.
For Huntington Beach, the win was a balanced display of offense, defense, and discipline — a strong statement to open the 2025 season.
